The federal government will pay you 30% for solar and wind systems as a tax credit!!!

This means that you pay 30% less until the tax credit runs out which takes place in the end of 2014.

Also because both Kansas and Missouri have passed a net metering law your electric company must pay you for any electricity your system makes that you do not use.  For example when you go to work and turn down your thermostat you will get paid for the power that your solar panels or wind generator produced that your house is not using.
